Police release video after using Taser during traffic stop

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police have released video from a traffic stop Thursday afternoon when officers deployed a Taser to control a domestic assault suspect.

According to a news release, Jackson police responded to a report of a domestic assault incident around noon Thursday.

Officers issued a be on the lookout alert, or BOLO, for the suspect, who had left prior to officers’ arrival.

The suspect was seen driving on the Bypass and officers attempted to stop him.

The release says the suspect refused to follow the orders of officers to get on the ground, and the individual told officers he was not going back to jail and would rather die.

The release says the suspect also threatened to walk into oncoming traffic.

To prevent injury to the suspect, an officer deployed his Taser, allowing officers the chance to take the man into custody without causing serious injury.

The man was taken to the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex after he was treated at a local hospital.
