State education commissioner visits Crockett County schools
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — Alamo City School and Bells Elementary School welcomed Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen to their schools Friday afternoon.
Students lined the halls in anticipation of her arrival, some making signs and singing songs.
Commissioner McQueen presented the schools with celebratory banners to mark their achievements as reward schools and being an exemplary district.
Reward status is the top distinction a school can earn in Tennessee.
“They’re one of a top number of schools in the state who are earning the status because of growing kids and helping kids get to the expectations we’ve set,” Commissioner McQueen said.
The students, teachers and administration of both schools said they plan to work harder to remain top Tennessee schools.
