Man charged with violating sex offender registry by entering school
JACKSON, Tenn. — A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday in connection with a recent incident when police say he entered a Jackson school.
Chad Lutrell, 39, was arrested Tuesday on an outstanding warrant for violation of the sex offender registry, according to a new release from the Jackson Police Department.
The incident took place Jan. 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic School. Police say Lutrell went to the school under the pretenses of obtaining a business agreement with the school involving recycling cardboard materials, the release says.
A citizen immediately recognized Lutrell as a registered sex offender and alerted school staff who escorted him from the building within minutes of his arrival on the property.
School administrators then reported the incident to the Jackson Police Department.
Lutrell is on the sex offender registry for a sexual battery conviction from June 10, 2009, according to the release.
Lutrell is scheduled to be arraigned at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Jackson City Court.
