Gov. Bill Lee requests $151.3 million in FEMA assistance after flooding

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Gov. Bill Lee has requested President Donald Trump grant a Major Disaster Declaration, which would make federal recovery assistance available to cities and counties impacted by February’s flooding across the state.

Gov. Bill Lee visited Hardin County March 8 to view flood damage.

The request could potentially impact several West Tennessee counties.

According to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency website, Gov. Lee’s request also asks that the Federal Emergency Management Agency make an Individual Assistance program available to several counties, including Decatur and Hardin Counties. That program would provide assistance to residents in those counties who are eligible.

According to the TEMA website, Gov. Lee’s request specifically asks FEMA to make their Public Assistance program available to 58 of Tennessee’s 95 counties. In West Tennessee, that request would include assistance for Decatur, Dyer, Gibson, Hardin, Lake, Lauderdale, McNairy, Obion, Tipton and Weakley counties if the request is granted.

You can find more information about the request at the TEMA website.
