Denmark celebrates Easter with community Easter egg hunt

JACKSON, Tenn– “They are so elated to find that Easter egg,” said Marcus Reeves, Denmark community member.

People who live in the Denmark community celebrated Easter Sunday afternoon with an Easter egg hunt.

“Some of them have money in it, in addition to candy,” Reeves said.

The kids grabbed their baskets and headed out into the Savannah Williamson Community Park in search of different colored eggs.

“Some of them don’t know each other, so they’re making new friends, and they’re happy about making new friends and that they can play. They’re playing basketball, and playing in that little park area. They’re having a lot of fun,” Reeves said.

Leaders of the Denmark community said this annual event helps make the community stronger.

“We’re hoping to build an alliance, among all of the people who are here in the community, all the west Madison community area,” Reeves said.

It’s also to remember why they celebrate Easter.

“It is to spread the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the more people you have, the more Christians you have, the more spreading of the word that you have,” Reeves said.
