Lambuth church observes Ash Wednesday
JACKSON, Tenn. — Millions around the world, as well as those right here in West Tennessee, observed Ash Wednesday.
Dozens attended a special Ash Wednesday service at Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church to receive ashes.
Wednesday also marked the first day of Lent, which occurs 40 days before Easter.
The season of Lent is often observed through fasting and prayer.
For participants, placing ashes on the forehead is considered a sign of repentance.
