JACKSON, Tenn. — Danny Day, a General Surgeon at Jackson Surgical, was on call Thursday night but his son Trip, a sophomore at Jackson Christian, needed help with Algebra 2 homework.

They began taking turns writing backwards on the window.

Day is on ER call and knows his risk of COVID-19 exposure is heightened. He had been coming home, changing in his garage and showering, but with risk of being exposed to more people while on call, he moved out last Sunday and is staying in a friends vacant barn apartment to ensure he doesn’t risk exposure to his family.

Several healthcare workers in cities where coronavirus is more widespread have already begun living separately from their families.
