Arrest made in Martin domestic violence incident
MARTIN, Tenn. — 45-year-old James Thomas Jr. of Martin has been arrested in connection to a domestic violence incident, according to a news release issued by the Martin Police Department.
The release states officers responded to an incident on Palace Street on May 13 at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Officers were advised upon arrival that Thomas had assaulted a female at the location before barricading himself in the bathroom, the release states. Officers were given the information that Thomas was in possession of a firearm and had threatened to harm himself.
According to the release, the MPD Special Response Team arrived at the location and attempted to talk Thomas into exiting the residence for over two hours. The attempt failed and the team made a forced entry into the residence, removing Thomas without injury.
Thomas was then transported to Weakley County Sheriff’s Office for evaluation and faces charges of aggravated criminal trespassing, domestic assault and resisting stop, frisk or halt, the release states.
