John was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving 38 years. He served 27 years on the Henry County Sheriff’s Department; he served as a Constable for 20 years; several years as chief of Oakland Fire Department; school bus mechanic for 30 years; he served as a member of the drug task force. He also worked security for the Henry County High School football and basketball games for many years; was very active with the Henry Sheriff’s Dept. Animal Shelter. John was well known as a family man and devoted husband, who loved spending time with his family.
