Jackson tax preparer indicted on tax fraud charge

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson tax preparer has been indicted in U.S. District Court on charges of tax fraud, according to a news release.

Louis Morris, 69, was charged earlier this month after allegedly preparing false returns for clients between 2015 and 2018, the release says.

The release says Morris is accused of including fabricated documents for those clients to claim higher refunds.

He is also accused of filing his own false returns for several years, reporting a false filing status, and inflating expenses from his tax preparation business, L&L Tax Service, to claim a higher refund, according to the release.
