Delta Dental wants to protect teeth during Halloween
JACKSON, Tenn. — Everyone loves the excitement of trick-or-treating, but some of those tasty candies can cause spooky effects.
Trick-or-treating is a time to indulge in your favorite sweet treats, but some of those treats are better than others.
Delta Dental Tennessee says it is best to stay away from candy corn or candy that is of gelatin or gummy texture.
If not brushed correctly, these sweets could cause cavities or decay.
Try to stick with sweets like chocolate, as they melt in your mouth and are easier to wash off of your teeth.
“Important thing if you have that kind of candy, it’s okay. It’s okay to indulge in moderation. Make sure you brush your teeth afterwards. In the case of gummy candies, make sure you floss for sure,” said Missy Acosta, Vice President of Brand Strategy for Delta Dental Tennessee.
Acosta suggests possibly buying a toothbrush that matches your costume, to make brushing a little more fun.
