Ribbon cutting held for new TCAT Parsons campus

PARSONS, Tenn. — A new Tennessee College of Applied Technology location is welcoming current and prospective students to campus.

TCAT Crump held a ribbon cutting on Friday to open their new TCAT Parsons campus.

“We are celebrating the grand opening of this wonderful institution for TCAT Crump. It’s so exciting when a plan comes together and we’re able to take a building that was donated to us and turn it into this beautiful campus,” said Flora Tydings, Chancellor for the Tennessee Board of Regents.

This plan has been in the works for three years, and the TCAT administration is glad to finally bring this opportunity to the community.

“We needed a location to house some new programs that we didn’t have the facilities or space to offer this community. Pulled together funding and support and was able to give us this beautiful campus here,” said TCAT Crump President Stephen Milligan.

TCAT Parsons will house a diesel power technology program, heavy equipment technology program, and a truck driving program.

“It will definitely provide an opportunity for residents to have access to high quality training for jobs that are really in high demand not just here, but across our region and across our state,” Milligan said.

These programs will further the education of students, but will also prepare them for the workforce as soon as they graduate.

“Students can come, they can be here anywhere from 10 weeks to three months to 12 months and have degree in their hand when they leave, and so it’s so exciting to see what’s available for students,” Tydings said.
