Poets gather for open mic session in downtown Jackson

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. — A poetry open mic session was held in Downtown Jackson Saturday afternoon.

James Cherry, president of the Griot Collective of Tennessee says poetry is a vital part of society.

He says his goal is to highlight all the creatives of Jackson by giving them a platform to share their talents.
