PARIS, Tenn. — It’s that time of the year again: the City of Paris is kicking off the World’s Biggest Fish Fry the last week of April.

The City of Paris will be celebrating their 69th annual fish fry this week.

Jordan Holland, a coordinator for the event, says since COVID-19 they haven’t been able to have the festival that the people of West Tennessee deserve.

“We did a lot of social distancing and had a lot of hand sanitizers at stations everywhere and things like that,” said Holland.

Holland says this year they plan on making the event bigger and better to celebrate the resilience that the residents displayed during this pandemic.

He says this week is going to be packed with a multitude of events that will keep everyone on their toes.

“It’s a week long worth of fun. It’s always the last full week of April. We got different events for everybody, from kids to seniors dancing. The whole nine yards,“ said Holland.

Holland says the preview events that were held Saturday were packed with people from all walks of life.

“The turnout yesterday for the first three events that we had, which was the 5K dash, car show, and the demolition derby last night, the crowd was just amazing. There were so many people out there, standing room only at the derby,” said Holland.

He says there is something for everyone, especially the kids.

“We have a junior fishing rodeo which is the TWRA. They will come and put so many fish up in there and then we’ll close it off and don’t feed them. So then when those kids get out there fishing now, they’re just biting like crazy. We have prizes for the smallest, the biggest and the most. The kids love it,” said Holland.

Holland says there is no admission fee, but the price of certain events vary and the fish buffet is $15.
