Women Veterans Day commemoration held in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson’s first Women Veterans Day commemoration was held Sunday afternoon at VFW Post 6496.

The event comes after Tennessee Governor Bill Lee singed a law in 2021 designating June 12 as Women Veterans Day.

Certificates of Honor were presented to local female veterans and guests were treated to refreshments and door prizes.

The ceremony included a keynote speech from retired United States Navy Commander Leanne Braddock and a proclamation delivered by Jackson City Councilman Gary Pickens.

The event was hosted by the Jackson-Madison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (click here to learn more.)
