Jackson committee meets for final time of fiscal year
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Budget Committee met Tuesday for the last meeting of the 2022 fiscal year.
Among topics discussed was a report on the where revenues stood at the end of this year, and an report on the audit comments they received from last year.
Jackson’s District 6 Commissioner Paul Taylor says the city’s internal auditor presented a corrective action plan to address the comments.
Also, a funding proposal for a downtown development director was approved to bring to the city council for approval. Taylor says this position would be an advocate for businesses in downtown Jackson.
“They would become the main street director for this area so there is grant funding available for that. They would be advocates for downtown businesses. Whether that is parking, facade upgrades, they are able to manage that,” Taylor said.
The proposal will be brought to the Jackson City Council next Tuesday at their July meeting.
