JCM Early College High’s Bob Sparks named West TN Teacher of the Year
JACKSON, Tenn. — JCM Early College High is home to the newly titled West Tennessee Teacher of the Year, Bob Sparks.
Sparks was surprised on Friday afternoon by Blue Bell, who congratulated him on his accomplishment, along with bringing ice cream for everyone to enjoy.
“This process has helped me to see the importance of using your voice to advocate for what you believe in,” Sparks said. “What you want to see happen, for what we need in the public education. And so I really hope to one instill that in my students. That they have a voice. That they should speak out about the things that they believe in and want to see.”
Principal Dr. Nathan Lewis continues in his excitement.
“He also exemplifies all of our teaching staff at Early College High,” Dr. Lewis said. “And so while it is a recognition for him as an individual, it is a recognition for what we are trying to do as a program.”
Assistant Principal David Westberry tells us of another member of Early College High that is being recognized as well.
“Dr. Lewis, who is our principal, we just announced and the state announced that he made the top nine for Principal of the Year, for the State of Tennessee,” Lewis said. “So we are really proud of that accomplishment.”
Dr. Lewis shares some impressive news that’s coming up for some students.
“This year we have 40 students who are on track to finish their associate’s degree,” Dr. Lewis said. “And so we are working with them, and helping to keep them on track so that all of those students can finish the associate’s degree by May, which will be our largest group to finish.”
Celebrations ended by students and fellow faculty congratulating Mr. Bob Sparks on his new accomplishment.
