Local churches join together for the Praise in the Park event
JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents of Madison County joined together in a joyful noise.
Pastor Clarence Currie, the organizer of the event, talks about the previous praise in the park and how it has changed for this year.
“People were sitting on their porches, stopping by in their cars, parking on the street. And now we are just bringing it out here in a big area, where all of them can come and just clap and praise the name of jesus,” Currie said.
Pastor Walter Brewer of West Bemis Missionary Baptist Church shares his passion in supporting this event.
“We need to get outside the church walls, and start doing things like this, to try to reach the people that will not come into our churches. Perhaps they may come to the park, but not to the church,” Brewer said.
One of the speakers, Laurie Forester, tells of the impact it has had on her.
“I’m in awe of what he’s doing. With just simple obedience, of the sacrifice that people are taking from their Sunday afternoon, a day of rest, and they are sacrificing time to reach the community for the glory of god, ” said Forester
Pastor Currie gives us insight on future events coming.
“We will be back in Muse Park in October and North Park in November,” Currie said.
There are two more Praise in the Park events scheduled. They will be held on the third Sunday of October and November.
