Jackson Central-Merry celebrates Homecoming with return of parade

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s an exciting week for all of Jackson Central-Merry with their Homecoming in full swing.

As a result, everyone is thrilled to have football Homecoming return once again.

“It actually feels good,” said JCM Alumni Stephanie Graham. “It is a community event. It is good to see JCM celebrate their Homecoming and these types of activities.”

The parade started at 10 a.m. Friday with a large turnout, with many students from different schools, faculty, and members of the community in attendance.

“I’m very excited, I can’t wait to see the wagons and stuff like that pass by,” said student Lakira Grimes.

This parade is one of many activities that were celebrated for Homecoming leading up to the game.

“We participated here in Jackson, Tennessee,” said JCM Cougar Cheerleader Amia Miller. “We are proud to show our Cougar fans what we have and did today.”

Many people are excited to watch JCM play their hearts out, and to display all of their hard work on the field.

“We also have a game tonight at 7 p.m. at Liberty, and we also have our Homecoming which is today,” Miller said. “We would like to celebrate with you all, so please come and join us and show your spirit today. As we usually say, you should have been a Cougar!”

This is the first time the school has held their Homecoming parade since 2016.
