Women were Exalted in a Musical Expression
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Choral Society performed an impactful tribute to women in music through numerous genres.

The concert included a variety of songs for everyone, with a song from the Disney Movie Moana, Aretha Franklin, and an interpretation of Emily Dickinson.
One soloist shares of her love for Dolly Parton, The Creator Of Light Of A Clear Blue Morning, the song that she performed.
“The fact that she first wrote and sang this song and then I get to you know be apart of an interpretation of her song is, is it’s a really cool blessing,” Alyssa Altobell shares.
The concert not only performed the songs, but also gave credit and background to the women behind the music.
“But you forget that women write music, they they not only do that, but they arrange music, and some of them like dolly do all three and like Aretha,” tells Amy Dietrich.

The performance and the rehearsals leading up to it was the first gathering for the choir post covid.
Altobell shares, “After a long time of silence and singing on your own its great, it feels so good to rehearse and perform together as a group.”
“Its like being on a team. When you’re singing with the choir. You’re working together, you have an identity that is universal. And you care about the people that you’re with, and you care about blending with them.” Dietrich expressed.
The Jackson Choral Society is also planning for their spring concert, and is actively recruiting for new members.
