Church brings community together with unique experience

PARIS, Tenn. — One community continued an annual tradition, but with a change of scenery.

The New Harmony Church in Paris concluded their annual live nativity drive-thru on Sunday!

“For 24 years, we’ve been doing this live nativity. And the purpose is to represent the Christmas story told in the Bible, about the birth of Jesus,” said Rusty Turner, the co-coordinator of the Live Nativity Paris.

There were a total of 10 scenes from the Bible around Jesus’s life. With one costume, you can help others experience the past, and that’s what the church did, allowing others to experience the stories of the Bible.

“The fun part is dressing all the little kids. They’re so excited. And they, they are getting into character. And they like to see themselves. So we have mirrors set up, and they get to choose their costumes, and that brings great joy to me,” said Jamie Bruce, the event’s wardrobe consultant.

Once the cars reached their last stop, they were able to give feedback and take a small gift to remember their time.

“People are just moved by the whole thing, and it really touches their hearts. And that’s just what is such a blessing to be able to, you know, be a part of it, is just knowing that, that people’s lives are being touched,” said Tracy Turner, the other co-coordinator of Live Nativity Paris.

The Live Nativity in Paris is expected to return the first weekend of December in 2023.
