Body found in Henderson County on Monday
HENDERSON, Tenn. — Local law enforcement are investigating a body found on the side of the road.
Henderson County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a body that was found on the side of McCamey Mill Road in Henderson County Monday morning.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered he was dead.
After the coroner arrived, they were able to confirm the man was killed by a vehicle hitting him while he was walking down the road.
The sheriff’s department first heard about the incident when a passerby called and reported a man laying on the side of the road around 10:50 a.m.
“Someone I think that lives in the area saw him,” said Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke.
The sheriff’s office then called Tennessee Highway Patrol to assist with the scene, and their troopers took over the investigation.
“Because it’s in such close proximity to a roadway, we believe that this could be traffic related. And for that reason, we called them out. They’re the specialist in that area, and we just kind of take a step back and assist them,” Duke said.
Henderson County Sheriff’s Department know the identity of the male, but did not wish to disclose a name at this time.
Right now, they believe this could be a possible hit and run situation.
The investigation is ongoing and the highway patrol is now the lead on the case. More details will be available in the future.
