Local university to host Maribeth McGuire Lecture

MCKENZIE, Tenn. — A local university is hosting the Maribeth McGuire Lecture.

James Scruton

Bethel says the inaugural lecture will feature a poetry reading by Dr. James Scruton, who will present
selections from his two most recent collections, “Crossing the Days,” “The Rules,” and more.

The lecture is set for April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Ayers Lecture Room of the Morris Science Building on Bethel’s campus.

Maribeth McGuire Lecture is named for Maribeth McGuire, who began teaching as an associate professor of English at Bethel in 1985. She later became the chair of the Humanities Division in 1995.
