Doctor faces charges after attempted arson in Milan

MILAN, Tenn. — An arrest was made after an attempted arson at a local family clinic.

According to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Milan Fire Department responded to a call on Tuesday at the Family Care Clinic on South First Street.

They said there were reports of an unusual odor coming from inside the building. Due to the suspicious nature of this call, they decided to get the TBI Special Agent Fire Investigators, as well as an accelerant detection K9 unit.

After investigations, they determined that someone intentionally tried to start a fire from inside of the building.

The TBI said that on Wednesday, agents were able to obtain an arrest warrant for 45-year-old Misty Allen.

The TBI says that she is charged her with one count of attempted aggravated arson. Allen was a doctor for the clinic at the time.

With the help of the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, they were able to arrest her at her home in Jackson.

Allen’s lawyer requested a bond hearing that at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, and she is scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
