April declared Sexual Assault Awareness Month in local county
BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Mayors in Benton County have announced that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Camden Mayor Roger Pafford and Benton County Mayor Mark Ward made a joint statement, saying:
“We are extremely proud of the job that WRAP (Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program) and other organizations do in advocating for and assisting survivors of Sexual Assault in Camden and Benton County. Rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment impacts our communities in myriad negative ways. Sadly, statistics indicate that one in four women and one in six men experience sexual assault in their lifetime. We recognize the remarkable strength, courage, and resilience that survivors possess. We are humbled by the outstanding work of Niki Simko and WRAP, and we are proud to have the honor and opportunity.”
The news release says that an official presentation of this proclamation will take place at the Benton County Courthouse at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 13.
