Annual Weed Tour held in Jackson on Wednesday
JACKSON, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture hosted the annual Weed Tour in Jackson on Wednesday.
The guided tour — led by UT Extension weed specialist Larry Steckel, and Dr. Lauren Lazaro, a Senior Agronomist with Blue River Technology — featured about 40 weed management research tests in cotton, corn and soybean.
“You know, most of the local population drives around and they see these really clean fields. They don’t happen by magic. It takes effective herbicides and other tactics, crop rotation, cultivation. You know, things you can’t pour out of a jug. Using cover crops, things like that,” Steckel said.
At the conclusion, tour leaders were available for consultation, as well as discussion of issues and product performance.
