Local stars make some plays for a great cause

JACKSON, Tenn.—Softball season may have ended across the nation, but for these officials and Jackson celebrities it has only just begun.

This year marked the second year of Jackson’s Celebrity Softball Game.

All proceeds went towards the second phase of the new Dream Center of Jackson.

From county officials, to state representatives, and even WBBJ’s own Brad Douglass was able to make a hit out of this event for a great cause.

The Dream Center of Jackson hosted games from a youth all-star game, to home run derby, and finally, the game of the night, Celebrity All-star Softball.

There were four teams sponsors one from Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Jackson Energy Authority, Great American Sports, and Yukon Outfitters.

Stephanie Laffoon shares more.

“It’s just an opportunity to just showcase how awesome West TN is and all the of the benefit is for the Dream Center of Jackson. We’re a homeless shelter for women and women with children, and we just want to just give them the goodness of Christ that we have received and pass that on to future generations,” Laffoon said.

There even was a friendly competition for the loudest members in the audience to win some free pizza.
