Bell ringing to be held to mark Constitution’s anniversary

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson community is being invited to celebrate the signing of the country’s Constitution.

The Jackson-Madison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution says their organization will be celebrating Constitution Week from Sept. 17 to Sept. 23.

DAR says during that time they will have a reading the Bill of Rights to the Constitution at 2 p.m. at VFW Post 6496 at 285 Airways Boulevard on Sept. 21.

DAR says during their monthly chapter meeting, members will read the first 10 Amendments to the U. S. Constitution, with guests including Jackson Mayor Scott Conger and Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey.

DAR also during the reading of the Constitution, bells will be rung to celebrate the signing of the Constitution in 1787.

And at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, DAR asks everyone to ring their bells during “Bells Across America” to celebrate the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.
