Building collapses near downtown Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.—A local business collapses in Jackson.

We received a tip shortly after 2 pm Saturday stating that a building had fallen near downtown.

Our crews arrived to the scene at McCowat-Mercer Packaging, Inc. located at 202 Riverside Drive in Jackson to find that a large portion of the building had collapsed. 

At the time of our arrival only two Jackson police units remained to secure the scene.

We reached out to Jackson Fire Chief, Don Friddle, who could only confirm that he was aware his crews had been dispatched to the area around 2:20 pm. He was unaware at this time if any injuries occurred from the incident.
