JMCSS Board holds retreat over weekend
From the Jackson-Madison County School System:
Members of the Jackson-Madison County School Board joined district leaders at Jackson-Academic STEAM Academy Saturday morning for strategic planning during the Fall Board Leadership Retreat.
Chief Officers — representing more than 12 district departments — completed presentations over their strategic plans to impact student and staff success.
Annual review of department projects — and proof of past performance — are critical steps in adhering to calculated spending habits required by Superintendent Dr. Marlon King and the Board.
“With the planning the chief has set forward, we have an opportunity to critique, give suggestions, and make comments. So I think it is important,” said JMCSS Board Chairman Pete Johnson.
“Today was great because it gave us the opportunity to meet as a team, go over some of those strategic goals that we have set for ourselves for the five year plan and to work forward into what are we doing in the future for the kids,” said JMCSS Board member Sherry Franks.
Board members were also able to tour Jackson-Academic STEAM Academy to see recent updates made around the CyberSchool — including improvements to the warehouse, which has been renovated to support robotics and other JASA clubs.
