Haywood County Sheriff confirms details in apparent murder-suicide
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what they say appears to be a murder-suicide in Haywood County that involved a couple who both worked for law enforcement agencies.
We spoke with Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett, who confirmed that on October 14 around 10 p.m., his deputies received a call from the 300 block of TJ Mize Road.
He told us when his deputies arrived on scene, they found two individuals deceased in a pickup truck parked on the property.
The bodies were identified as Sharon and Anthony Lee, who were married.
Sheriff Garrett says Sharon had multiple gunshot wounds and Anthony had a single gunshot wound.
A handgun was found inside the pickup truck.
Further investigation revealed that they had been earlier involved in a domestic dispute.
Both are employees of area law enforcement agencies, as Anthony Lee was employed with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and Sharon Lee is employed with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Garrett says the bodies have been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis, and he says the investigation is ongoing.
