Regional HIPs Drive-In held in West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. – On the main campus of Jackson State Community College, administrators, faculty, and staff gathered for the first Regional HIPs Drive-In since the pandemic.

“HIPs Drive-In is being put on by TBR, and we have one in West to East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee,” said Tammy Prater, the organizer of the West Regional HIPs Drive-In. “HIPs stands for High Impact Practices, and these are practices that we know impact students greatly and help them learn. This is a conference for faculty and staff from TBR schools around West Tennessee.”
The day was broken up into sessions, with something of interest for everyone in attendance.
“We have study abroad, we have a session on, again, workforce development, we have one on honors, like honors students and teaching honor students. So we have a couple of larger sessions and we have some breakout sessions as well,” Prater said.

And learning wasn’t the only highlight of the day, community was a very big part.
After speaking to some attendees and looking around the joy filled room, you could feel the excitement, as familiar friendships were reunited and new friendships were starting.
The networking was stated to also be a great resource for ideas and questions that may arise in the future.
Among those that presented was keynote speaker Dr. Leah Nellis and Dr. Carol Rothstein, who gave the opening address.
