Inez Kee Simmons

Inez Kee Simmons, age 89, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late James “Gus” Simmons, departed this life Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2023 at her home.

Inez was born January 26, 1934 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Arvin Kee and Hester Lucille White Kee. She received her education in the Fayette County School System and was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area and was a member of First Baptist Church of Somerville. Inez enjoyed quilting, flowers and gardening. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Holt (Randall) of Somerville, TN and Renee Watson of Somerville, TN; her son, Clay Simmons of Somerville, TN ; two sisters, Janie Mount (Randy) of Bolivar, TN and Judy Laney (Joe) of Bolivar, TN; her brother, Richard Kee; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Lumpkin and Rita Fawcett; two sisters, Alice Ryan and Millie Brown; three brothers, Floyd Kee, R.C. Kee and Roger Kee; and two grandchildren.

A visitation for Mrs. Simmons will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Aaron Moss officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will include Joe Ed Laney, Mike Frame, Tony Kee, Mike Kee, Jimi Lumpkin and Mike Gammel.
