2023 Native American Educational Powwow set to be held Oct. 27

UNION CITY, Tenn. – Looking for an event that incorporates food, culture, an up close look at tradition, and time to immerse yourself in the knowledge outside of a history book?

Three days of interacting with new friends, and maybe familiar faces, are coming to Discovery Park of America as they host the 2023 Native American Educational Powwow.

At the powwow, attendees can partake in native American cuisine while visiting jewelry and art vendors.

Among the many reasons to attend the powwow, crowd favorites include seeing the competition dancing, hearing the indigenous storytelling, and the drumming.

“It’s important for me to share my culture to the general public so they will be more informed with how we live and how we function in this society,” said Kimberly Greene Bugg, the powwow coordinator. “We’re not just stuck in the past. We’re, you know, we are a living culture.”

Everyone is invited out to the Discovery Park on Friday, October 27 through Sunday, October 29.
