Community invited to events celebrating our veterans in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — November will bring a weekend of activities to the Hub City in honor of our veterans.
On Friday, November 10, the 11th Annual “Celebrating Our Veterans” program will be held at Englewood Baptist Church (2239 N. Highland Ave, Jackson) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Keynote Speaker will be Roy Cash, Captain USN (retired), and music will be provided by Kellye Cash, Miss America 1987, and by JSCC Choral Innovation Vocal Ensemble directed by Ester Gray.
There is no cost to attend, and the community is invited to join in showing appreciation to the veterans for the sacrifices they made for our country.
On Saturday, November 11, the 9th Annual Downtown Veterans Parade will kickoff in downtown Jackson at 11 a.m. Parade Marshall will be members of Disabled Veterans of America (DVA) Jackson Chapter #7.
Local churches are invited to ring their bells to acknowledge the veterans, and anyone wishing to ride, march, or walk in the parade is urged to pre-register by phoning (423) 341-3330.
A press release states that military veterans from World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War are encouraged to participate. Additionally, the Veterans Committee can arrange transportation with advance notice, and there is no entry fee for the parade participants.
A release states there will be a prize provided by Doubletree Hotel for the Best Decorated Veteran’s Vehicle.
