TVA holds meeting to get community input on new project

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. – A local county gathered to share their input on a community project.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is thinking of improving some of their transmissions systems to help three counties to increase growth and electrical power.

Thursday afternoon, they held an open house to members of Haywood County to preview the possible new transmission routes.

This open house gave members of Haywood, Tipton, and Fayette counties the opportunity to give their input on the possible route and the effects on their homes.

Leaders with TVA say they want to make sure these counties continue to grow for the betterment of West Tennessee.

“We are out here to present the different route alternatives to potential impacted property owners, to get their feedback, comments and concerns and answer questions. And so what we’ll do is we’ll take the information we gather today and that will go into what we call our route analysis where we come up with our preferred route,” said Shane Beasely, the Manager of Transmission Line Sitting for the TVA.

Members who were unable to attend in person were given the opportunity to join in on TVA’s online open house.
