Experts offer support as November marks National Family Caregivers Month

JACKSON, Tenn. — November is National Family Caregivers Month.

Family members or friends are the backbone of long-term care, yet according to a recent survey from A Place for Mom, 76% weren’t fully prepared.

How can we make sure aging relatives are cared for? Understanding the cost of senior living in your area is a good place to start.

Different solutions work for different people. Seniors have a wide range of support needs and daily activities.

When considering solutions, think of staff, service, amenities and activities to suit the individual.

A Place for Mom offers support for no cost throughout the entire journey.

Also, with Veterans Day coming up on November 11, know that veterans and their spouses may qualify for VA aid and attendance benefits.

“The majority of family caregivers feel emotionally drained and overwhelmed,” said Tatyana Zlotsky, President of A Place for Mom. “82% of them report making personal sacrifices to take care of seniors, and still don’t feel like they’re providing adequate care.”

Families tap experts for big decisions on topics like real estate or finances, and senior care should be no different.
