Female body found in Haywood County

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities confirm a deceased female body was discovered Wednesday evening in Haywood County.

According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett shared that he received a call around 6:35 p.m. on November 1 regarding possible human remains being discovered. Sheriff Garrett says the discovery was made by farmers harvesting soy beans in a field near Cobb Crossing and Highway 79.

Sheriff Garrett says he, along with deputies and investigators, responded to the scene and requested the local coroner after it was confirmed to be a human body.

Garrett confirms the body was later determined to be that of a female.

According to Sheriff Garrett, the body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Sheriff Garrett says at this time, the body has not been officially determined to be Dana Davis, who was reported last seen and missing from her home on Cobb Crossing nearly three weeks ago.
