Miss Teen Volunteer America Ayzjiahna Wood visits the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson was visited by royalty over the last 48 hours!

Ayzjiahna Wood is this year’s title holder for Miss Teen Volunteer America.

She is currently a college student studying nursing, but she doesn’t allow that to stop her from taking time out of their busy schedule to visit the Hub City.

“My 48 hours in Jackson, Tennessee — it’s been so much fun, I don’t expect anything less,” Wood said.

While in Jackson, she was able to meet Madison County Sheriff Julian Wiser, Jackson Mayor Scott Conger, and elementary school students to share her initiative.

“With Miss Teen Volunteer America, I really wanted to spread my initiative, which is how representation matters and creating a culture of inclusion, just because of where I was raised in Utah, [it] was not something that I always had,” Wood said.

One of the students she met Thursday afternoon sparked a great emotion from her, reminding her of when she was younger. After Wood won Miss Teen Volunteer, this scholarship pageant went towards her college education. She says this pageant has helped her so much that she wants other girls to join.

“With me as a title holder, I see that a beauty pageant is not a beauty pageant, it’s a stepping stone, It’s an opportunity and it’s a way for powerful and intelligent young women to speak their truth and get out their platforms and their initiatives to change the world,” said Wood.

The next Miss Teen Volunteer America will be crowned in the spring of next year at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

“Our next pageant, for me to, unfortunately, give up my title to the next well-deserving girl, is going to be March 6 through the 9th, and you can find more information for ticketing on MissVolunteerAmerica.net, and we would love for the whole City of Jackson to attend, and I think that support system is incredible,” Wood said.

Wood also shares that during her time here in Jackson, she’ll be visiting the Veterans Ball.
