JFD: East Jackson fire leaves one injured

JACKSON, Tenn.–An early evening fire leaves one person injured.

After receiving a call around 6 Monday evening from a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipster, we learned that a house was on fire on Whitehall Street. Our crew arrived on the scene to see the Jackson Fire Department and an EMT team. The fire was put out by the time our crew arrived and the Jackson Police Department directed traffic from the scene. The fire occurred in a Whitehall motel apartment.

“Around 5:30 this afternoon, we received report of a residency on fire with a report of a victim trapped inside. Fire crews made entry we did find the resident on fire. We did locate a male victim inside the motel. That victim was transported to the Jackson-Madison County Hospital. His condition is unknown at the time,” said Battalion Chief Wedmon Graham with the Jackson Fire Department.

The cause of this fire is unknown and the Jackson Fire Department is leading an investigation.
