JMCSS to host first Greenpower race this weekend
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson-Madison County School System is hosting its very first Greenpower qualifying race Saturday, November 11 at the Rockabillys stadium.

Middle and high school teams will race electric cars they’ve built, in addition to submitting a judges’ presentation.
The event is set to include six or seven JMCSS middle school teams, the JMCSS high school team, a team from Memphis, and a team from Chattanooga.
Everyone is invited to come out at 10:30 a.m. as the first race begins. Admission is free.
“In Greenpower, we are using STEM, which is science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are also learning to use the engineering design process. And the three main things that we are using are testing, creating, and improving,” said Sofie Viera, a data collector.
“For us to take a few boxes full of equipment and to get this car up and running and testing it in three months. I can’t brag on them enough,” said Tiffany Rechis, a Greenpower Coach at Rose Hill School.
Thanks to Toyota Tennessee, the generosity of the Rockabillys, and the hard work of all involved, this day is set to be a good time for those in attendance.
