Bridges in Madison County used to honor veterans

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – A public display of appreciation was held Friday for those who served.

For Veteran’s Day, various groups took to bridges over Interstate 40 to show their acknowledgement and respect.

Bridges of Honor involved the waving of flags and banners to honor our veterans. The groups stood on Spain Road, Matheny Road, and Hartmus Road.

“Well, it means alot to me. I was a Vietnam veteran and when we came home we didn’t get the warmest of receptions. So for me to come out and have the people blow their horns, wave at you, and express their appreciation, just thrills me,” said one 33-year-old participant.

This event is made possible by the West Tennessee Veterans Coalition, who sponsors this.
