Seasonable Weather Returns for the Weekend!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

The rain deficit continues to get worse across the Mid South and West Tennessee as most of our viewing area is under an extreme or severe drought. We sure didn’t pick up as much rain as we were hoping for in West Tennessee and the showers cleared out early today. That allowed temperatures to reach up into the 60s making for a nice afternoon. There is some rain in the forecast in the middle of next week but we should stay dry over the weekend. Catch the full forecast details including your hour by hour weekend forecast breakdown coming up here.

TONIGHT:

Rain showers continued for the early morning on Friday before clearing out into the afternoon. As of now, although the football fields will be damp, it appears the rain will have stopped falling by kickoff for the Friday night playoff games. Highs on Friday reached the mid 60s due to all the afternoon sunshine and Friday night lows will drop all the way down to around 40°.

The clouds also cleared out Friday afternoon/evening and we can expect partly cloudy skies overnight. As of now it looks like temperatures will be in the upper 40s for during the games. Winds came out of the north and be a bit breezy at times earlier but the winds should turn up calm by Saturday morning.

THE WEEKEND:

Saturday is Veteran’s Day, so please thank a veteran this weekend for all they have sacrificed for us. The weather this weekend looks to be a bit chilly and as of now, we think it is going to be dry. There will be a low pressure system passing just south of us so the rain showers will be close but will look to miss West Tennessee.  Highs this weekend will reach up to the low to mid 60s and morning lows will hang around the low  to mid 40s. We are expecting partly cloudy skies and the winds will come out of the northeast most of the weekend as well, helping to keep the temperatures a few degrees below normal. We might see a little bit more sun on Sunday than Saturday as the system moves further away from us.

NEXT WEEK:

Temperatures next week look to be very close to normal for this time of the year. Highs will reach the mid 60s for the first half of the week and we are going to see partly cloudy skies in general. Morning lows will hang around in the 40s each morning as well. The winds will come out of the north for the first half of the week before transitioning back to the southeast in the middle of the week.

Rain showers are not in the forecast for the start of the week but chances increase late Tuesday night into the middle of the week. A low pressure system is going to pass to the south and will look to bring some rain chances back on Wednesday. The next front looks to be heading our way next Thursday or Friday as well.

FINAL THOUGHT:

The first frost and freeze came last week and we were dealing with record highs this week. Cooler weather returned for the end of the work week and will stick around into the weekend. Some rain came down Thursday evening into Friday morning, and although that was welcomed news, we sure didn’t see enough rain. We really need the rain badly as drought conditions are becoming extreme across most of West Tennessee.
