Jackson church lends support to local students
JACKSON, Tenn.—Joshua 24:15 V.2 says, As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord… And serving is exactly what one local church did this morning.
St. Paul CME Church blessed Lincoln Elementary School with backpacks this morning containing school supplies.
This event was made possible by the Missionary Society, whose motto is ‘One church, Our school.’
Lincoln Elementary School principal, Annie Atkins, along with school representative Shonda Bell, accepted the backpacks that were presented for the students.
Atkins thanked the church for everything they have done to help the children in need at their school.
Pastor Claude Bass stated that their church doesn’t just sit on the hill, but they work for the community.
“Some of our members volunteer at Lincoln week in and week out, over there at the school and we do that as a part of our outreach ministry. We are here to serve as we follow the example of Christ. We are here to serve, give and share in the community to be a light in the midst of this community,” Pastor Bass said.
Bass furthermore stated that whatever they can find to do with their hands, they will do it.
Pastor Bass says that they have adopted Lincoln as their own and are always here to support them by encouraging their young minds.
