Fire claims life of 75-year-old woman in Selmer

SELMER, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has confirmed details regarding a fatal fire over the weekend.

On Saturday, November 11, a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipster alerted us to a fire at a home on Dowty Road in McNairy County.

Photos shared with us show firefighters on the scene that evening, where a residence appeared to be fully engulfed in flames.

According to the TBI, the fire occurred in the 800 block of Dowty Road in Selmer.

The TBI confirms that 75-year-old Glenda Dowty, who lived in the home, died as a result of the fire.

The TBI says they are working alongside the McNairy County and Selmer Fire Departments, and an investigation remains ongoing.
