RIFA to host first ever hunger-free holidays ‘Pack the Truck’ event
JACKSON, Tenn. – RIFA will host the first ever hunger-free holidays “Pack the Truck” event Saturday.

The event will be from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon at Kroger on West University Parkway.
The purpose of this food drive will be to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for families in need this holiday season.
Shoppers will be given a shopping list as they enter the store and if they decide to donate, staff and volunteers will collect their items.
“So as folks are rushing around to grab their items for the weekend or their groceries for their Thanksgiving meal, to pick up just a few extra things and place those on the RIFA truck which will be in front of the store. So we are really excited,” said Denice Walton, RIFA’s Donor and Community Relations Manager.
Some of the items on the list include cranberry sauce, green beans, corn, yams and mashed potatoes.
“Hunger just doesn’t take a vacation. There are folks around us in Jackson who are struggling, who are just struggling every single day, and it’s RIFA’s mission to lead and engage the fight in hunger,” Walton said.
It is important to know that one bag filled with food feeds a family of four and it costs $33 to fill that bag.
Those who want to contribute, but don’t have the extra time to shop can do so by scanning the QR code on the shopping list to donate a monetary gift.
