Ground broke for Hub City’s Central Stadium and Arena

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School System is empowering youth with groundbreaking ideas.

Wednesday, the school system broke ground for the Hub City’s Central Stadium and Arena.

This comes after the School Board signed off on the building of a new stadium earlier this month.

This is part of Superintendent Dr. Marlon King’s Community Unity Project.

“When you look at all of these people here, black, brown, doesn’t matter old or young, it’s unifying our community. And so the thing I can think about is unity, and so I am so excited to see a project bring this many people out around supporting not only the school system but Jackson-Madison County as a whole,” King said.

The groundbreaking event featured community members, including words from Mayor Conger, Master Developer for District 1 Hal Croker, Chairman James Johnson, the superintendent of the school system, and a performance from the cheerleaders and the band.

“I am overwhelmed by the support and the love that’s shown around the school system but also around this administration. I cannot be more grateful,” King said.

The stadium will include a football field with turf and a regulation track facility, along with locker rooms, concessions, a press box, and a jumbotron scoreboard.

As part of the Workplace Development Program, students will have the opportunity to gain real-life workplace experience by working at the concession stands in east Jackson.
