JMCSS leaders volunteer at RIFA amid Hunger-Free Holiday effort

JACKSON, Tenn. — School and District leaders in the Jackson-Madison County School System visited RIFA Wednesday to participate in the annual service day for JMCSS.

26 school principals joined a number of district administrators and the Superintendent’s executive team to pack snack-backpacks and more than 200 thanksgiving meals as part of RIFA’s Hunger-Free Holiday.

This is the third year JMCSS leaders have visited RIFA during the holiday season to volunteer.

JMCSS Chief of Staff, Melissa Spurgeon hopes local families and businesses will join in on the efforts this season.

“We hope that teachers, parents, anybody in the community sees this and wants to give back and to support, because we have many great nonprofits in Jackson, and RIFA is one of those that is consistently supporting our students and our families, so we want to support them,” Spurgeon said.

In 2022, RIFA distributed more than 200,000 meals to students through the Snack Backpack and School Food Pantry programs.
