Amazon releases top books of 2023 in time for holiday shopping

JACKSON, Tenn. — You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover — so here’s a better way to find a good read.

Throughout the year, a team of editors with Amazon Books hand-pick the “Best Books of the Year.”

Featuring the top 100 books published this year, the annual list also includes the top 20 books in popular categories.

This list is part of a string of lists including the best books of every month.

The top book is “The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride.

“We go into a room and we just hammer it out,” said Amazon Editor Vanessa Cronin. “We come up with that top 100 list. We lobby and argue and champion our babies. We kill some of our darlings, as my colleague Erin likes to call it, and we end up with the list that customers can see.”

Cronin says as the new chapter of holiday shopping begins, let these lists can be a helpful tool.
