Greater Jackson Chamber awards local businesses, individuals at annual celebration

JACKSON, Tenn. –The Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce held their annual award celebration and luncheon Thursday at Union University.

The goal of this celebration is to recognize local businesses and individuals in the community who are performing at a high level, or who have created a legacy of support for the community.

President and CEO Kyle Spurgeon explains the selection process.

“So, we have applications for a variety of different recognitions,” Spurgeon said. “Emerging business industry of the year, business categories that range in size from number of employees. So those go through a selection process and they’re named and it’s kept confidential until today.”

This year there were up to 600 attendees, maxing out the chapel at Union.

“We don’t stop often enough to recognize that success, so it’s important because we want to recognize that success and encourage other businesses to aspire to some of the things that some of the leading businesses here in this community are already doing,” said Spurgeon.

Among the awards given out were Emerging Business of the Year, awarded to Skillet Junction.

The Old Country Store was awarded Business of the Year with over 50 employees.

Other awards included Tennalum, who received Industry of the Year.

And the 2023 Curtis F. Mansfield Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Roger Smith.
